AVOIR BEAU +verb infinitive – May/might well do…, to try in vain to …, even if… – This expression is used in situations when one makes an effort to do something, but it didn’t get achieved. Ex) J’AI BEAU FAIRE du sport, je ne perds pas de poid. = Even if I exercise, I don’t lose weight. (I try in vain to exercise, I don’t lose weight.)
J’AURAIS BEAU parler… (Even if I could speak…) – AURAIS is AVOIR in the conditional present form. Here, it can be translated as “would, could”.
