Q1) TRUE or FALSE? Except for a few words, French Sign Language & American Sign Language are the same.

A1) False, they are different. ASM did get its origins from FSL yet they evolved differently and are considered to be two different languages. Although there are many similarities, you would still need to learn FSL to be fluent in it.

 

Q2) In the music video, LOUANE is seen using French Sign Language. How does she know sign language?

A2) LOUANE learned French sign language for the starring role in the movie, LA FAMILLE BÉLIER. In it, she plays the only hearing member of a family in which all the others are deaf. As a teenager, she is conflicted by her own ambitions and the responsibility she feels as her deaf family members’ only means of communicating with the hearing world. LOUANE won a César Award (national film award of France and considered to be the highest film honor in the country) for her work in the movie.
